About World Center of Baby

Interesting enough, World Center of Baby history has its initial roots in adoption, not surrogacy.

Contributing to expanding the adoption sphere and giving numerous children second chances for a caring family, is truly a noble way to fulfill one’s purpose. Furthermore, it gave us a sense of accomplishment and great contribution. It was in 2017 however, that a significant turnaround began in our mindset. A family from Argentina ― Federico and Silvina, with adopted son Alex ― recommended us to pay attention to the fact that there was a desire for intended parents in Ukraine to have a biological kid too. That advice is what kicked off the surrogacy-oriented history!

Following our gut feeling, we began to investigate the whole notion of surrogacy – how it works, and which benefits it provides to intended parents. Later that year, World Center of Baby was officially registered.

At first, we positioned ourselves as a surrogacy agency with a chain of partner fertility clinics. It warms our hearts to remember the first surrogacy contract, which was signed in 2018 by a Brazilian couple who welcomed their baby in October 2019. We truly believe we chose the right path, and forever thanks Federico and Silvina for their advice back in 2017.

Once World Center of Baby began to flourish and feel the firm ground as a surrogacy agency, the team was faced with a serious challenge: a worldwide pandemic. We however, understood that the first priority was that of our surrogates and intended parents, and so began to work towards ensuring their safety and initiating a smooth exit process against all odds.

We made a decision to cooperate with embassies to secure a comfortable way out for all couples, despite closed borders and absence of flights. WCOB tried its best to support each intended parent and surrogate mother, given such uncertain times. Moreover, we can proudly say that we were even able to organize a flight for a Swedish couple on a private plane, all for the sake of safety and ultimate comfort in turbulent conditions.

Fortunately, we were able to pass through this challenge successfully, and since the borders were opened again in June 2020, World Center of Baby has welcomed 19 couples.

In the summer of 2020, was suggested establishing a new direction for the surrogacy program. This idea resulted in signing a partnership agreement with the Columbian fertility clinic. Such a step meant a lot for our team, given that we could finally offer single intended parents and same-sex couples the possibility to experience parenthood as well.

In order to increase the probability of healthy pregnancies and successful childbirths, World Center of Baby was in constant search of the best medical practices. We also had an ongoing dream to open our own fertility clinic in the heart of Ukraine, and once we had identified our intended purpose, all WCOB team members became united in the goal in order to reach it as quickly as possible. And so, by the end 2020, we successfully opened our first practice, Alice Clinic in Kyiv! Alice Clinic is far more than just a fertility clinic, it’s a symbol of our CEO’s selfless love for children.

It’s truly wonderful how World Center of Baby achieved such huge success within the short period of time since the clinic’s opening. The number of healthy pregnancies, as well as the amount of shipped embryos, continues to increase significantly.

In 2021 WCOB launched an alternative surrogacy niche for single parents, becoming partners with a proven clinic in Mexico City. Right now we are in the process of opening up our own fertility clinic there too.

We always ensure all current innovations are included in our clinics’ equipment. We’ve bought the most modern facilities we could find, and right up until the end of 2021, we have guided the entire surrogacy process in partner clinics on our own: stimulation, punction, embryo creation, shipped embryos procedure, and overall pregnancy maintenance. It truly lifts our spirits to assist in the growing number of happy families, who realized their dream of parenthood with our help.

One moment we were taking part in surrogacy exhibitions in Dublin, London, and Beijing. And the next, a terrible war had changed the WCOB routine with a snap of a finger. It was an incredibly tough decision for us to close Alice Clinic in Kyiv for the time being. World Center of Baby continues to work actively to ensure all the new lives we assist are welcomed into this world in a safe and peaceful environment.

It cost us an incredible effort not to panic and immediately respond to the newly-minted circumstances. But thanks to our strong will and never-ending passion, we were successfully able to relocate surrogate mothers to safe destinations in Lviv and the Czech Republic, with all the biomaterial transported to the liquid nitrogen plant in Western Ukraine.

It’s true that today’s realities are quite burdensome and upsetting, however the darkest hour is always before dawn. And so, World Center of Baby has decided to concentrate on the light we can bring to struggling couples across the globe during this difficult time. Especially now, the weight of light we spread is absolutely invaluable.

Amidst the chaos of the first months of the war, a decision was made to relocate. Georgia were launched as alternative destinations, and WCOB has transported embryos for all willing intended parents from Ukraine to 3 other destinations free of charge. We wanted to make sure that our intended parents had the opportunity to continue with their journeys without further delays.

Alice Fertility Clinic has re-opened in Kyiv, Ukraine, and we continue our day-to-day operations despite disruptions caused by air raid sirens, power cuts, and missile attacks.

By the end of 2022, WCOB has representative offices in Georgia, Mexico, and Ukraine with in-country presence in all destinations where we offer our surrogacy programs.
